Position Summary
The Baker is responsible for preparing, baking, finishing, and maintaining the quality of cakes and other pastry items offered by Champagne and Cake. This role requires someone who is comfortable working with a variety of cake styles, fillings, frostings, finishes, and decorative elements, while also maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen workspace.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands both production and presentation. We are looking for a baker who values beauty, flavor, consistency, and craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of cakes and cake components
- Execute fillings, frostings, glazes, garnishes, and decorative finishes
- Assist with recipe preparation, scaling, mixing, baking, cooling, assembling, and finishing
- Maintain consistency in quality, flavor, and presentation
- Follow production schedules and prep lists
- Monitor freshness, quality, and inventory of ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and storage areas
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and labeling procedures
- Assist with additional dessert or pastry production as needed
- Communicate with management regarding product levels, special orders, and operational needs
Qualifications
- Experience baking and decorating a wide range of cakes
- Strong knowledge of cake structure, fillings, frostings, and finishing techniques
- Ability to work cleanly, efficiently, and with attention to detail
- Experience in a professional kitchen, bakery, or pastry environment preferred
- Ability to follow recipes and production standards consistently
- Food Handler certification required or ability to obtain
- Management-approved food safety standards must be followed at all times

Schedule / Pay
- 25–40 hours per week
- Hours will vary based on production needs and business volume
- Pay based on experience
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
