The Opportunity:
We are seeking an exceptionally seasoned and dynamic Director of Digital Marketing to lead and manage our Digital Marketing department. This is a critical leadership role for an individual with a proven track record of driving significant, scalable client success and agency growth through operational excellence and strategic client partnership. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader, an expert at managing a high-performing department, and a relentless advocate for maximizing Client ROI and achieving stellar Client Retention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Departmental Strategy & Operations: Develop, execute, and own the comprehensive strategy and day-to-day operations for the entire Digital Marketing department to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality services and exceptional client outcomes.
- Commercial Leadership & Client Retention: Serve as a senior strategic advisor to key clients, building strong, long-term partnerships. Be directly accountable for departmental performance metrics related to client ROI, client retention, and revenue growth within the department's portfolio.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of digital marketing specialists, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement focused on achieving client deliverables on time and to the highest standard.
- Service & Process Scaling: Directly contribute to the scaling of the marketing agency by implementing efficient departmental processes, innovative service offerings, and operational excellence to support accelerated growth while maintaining client service quality.
- Strategic Oversight of Digital Expertise: Provide high-level strategic direction and ensure technical excellence across all core digital disciplines delivered by the department, including:
- Organic SEO: Ensuring advanced SEO strategies drive measurable client growth.
- Paid Search (SEM): Guiding effective client budget allocation and optimization for maximum client ROI.
- Digital Advertising: Directing cohesive, cross-platform advertising strategies.
- Performance & Accountability: Define, track, and report on key departmental and client performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of all digital initiatives, with a primary focus on client success metrics and profitability.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in digital marketing, with a significant portion of that time spent directly managing and leading a department or major functional area within a marketing agency.
- Departmental Growth & P&L Management: Demonstrated success and hands-on experience in scaling a marketing department, managing departmental budgets, expanding service capabilities, and measurably increasing client retention and revenue.
- Technical Knowledge: Exceptionally strong, in-depth, and current knowledge to provide strategic oversight of:
- Organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Paid Search (SEM) platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising)
- Digital Advertising strategy across multiple channels
- Commercial & People Skills:
- Proven strength in client-facing executive roles, including presenting strategies, managing complex client expectations, and consistently fostering long-term client partnerships and growth.
- Extensive experience successfully managing, mentoring, and developing people and diverse departmental teams to drive commercial success and excellence in client service.
