Description:
The Director of Advancement is responsible for all operations of the Advancement Office and the supervision of the Advancement Officers. Critical to this work is donor solicitation for the annual fund.
Qualifications and Skills:
- BA in communications or related field
- Demonstrated experience in advancement/non-profit fundraising
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to support and articulate the mission of the school
- Ability to multi-task, work within deadlines, exercise self-motivation, and be proactive
- Ability to cultivate relationships with all constituent groups within and outside of the school
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Other sales experience desirable
- Experience with Raisers Edge fundraising software preferred
- Ensure that the mission and Catholic/Marianist character of the school are integrated into all messaging
Responsibilities
Pipeline Development and Collaboration with the Head of School
- Build leadership annual giving pipeline and prepare donors for major gift cultivation
- Engage in consistent one-on-one donor meetings, conducting 10 per quarter and 40 annually to strengthen relationships and braded annual giving pipeline
- Coordinate donor moves management between annual giving and leadership giving
Annual Fund Leadership
- Lead and implement The Lions Fund
- Develop annual appeal strategy, segmentation, stewardship communications
- Oversee Giving Days, Founders Week engagement, and donor renewals
Alumni Engagement and Community Relations
- Lead the Alumni Association, reunion giving, and class ambassador programs
- Build meaningful, lifelong connections among the alumni and their families
- Collaborate with athletics and admissions to ensure cohesive community engagement, cross-departmental communication, and unified messaging to alumna, families and prospective supporters
- Manage all aspects of the awarding of named scholarships
Advancement Operations and Communications
- Oversee all advancement communications (appeals, newsletters, stewardship and impact pieces)
- Lead operational planning, workflow systems, and internal procedures
- Manage donor stewardship touchpoints and recognition programs
- Sign gift acknowledgement letter under $1000
- Ensure brand alignment and messaging consistency across advancement materials
- Oversee the production of Connections magazine ensuring content strategy, storytelling, and publications timelines support advancement and institutional priorities
- Ensure effective communication with graphic designer for various projects
Advancement Services Oversight
- Supervise the database and Advancement Services Manager
- Ensure database integrity, reporting, gifting processing, and acknowledgement
Events Volunteer Management and Engagement Initiatives
- Oversee all fundraising and stewardship events:
- Giving day
- Alumni events and reunions
- Leadership giving stewardship events
- Golf tournament
- Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers, ambassadors, and class agents
