Title: Senior Software Engineer – Database & Systems (AI Platforms)
Location: Deerfield, IL (Must be able to work hybrid onsite 3 days per week ~4 days/week to convert to FTE)

This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems with a strong focus on database architecture, data management, and systems integration. What You Will Be Accountable For
- Design, develop, and maintain backend software systems that support AI and data-driven applications
- Modify, optimize, and support existing databases and database management systems
- Write and maintain logical and physical database designs, schemas, and identifiers
- Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to define technical scope, constraints, and delivery timelines
- Review project requests and user requirements to estimate development effort, cost, and timelines
- Support the full software development lifecycle, including:
- Business and systems analysis
- Requirements gathering and functional specification authoring
- Development, testing, and deployment
- Troubleshoot system and database issues and implement effective resolutions
- Ensure systems meet quality, performance, scalability, and reliability standards
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and constructive feedback to junior engineers
- Manage priorities independently while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5-7 years of professional experience in software engineering or systems development
- 3-5 years experience in Kubernetes, API development, and data engineering skills with the ability to quickly learn Agentic AI work.
- Strong experience with SQL and relational database technologies
- Proven ability to design, modify, and maintain database schemas and data models
- Solid understanding of backend software development and systems architecture
- Experience working across the full SDLC from requirements through delivery
- SQL and relational databases
- Backend development languages and tools (e.g., SQL, Visual Basic, or comparable technologies)
- Database management systems
- Understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and software interactions
- Strong verbal, written communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills and a collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams
- Basic mentoring skills and experience supporting junior team members
- Preferred: Expertise in Quality engineering skills and methodologies
