This position focuses on stabilizing, modernizing, and guiding cloud and hybrid networking for mission-critical environments. The engineer will work hands-on to design, implement, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS-centric network architectures while helping the organization transition from legacy environments to new cloud-integrated designs. What You Will Be Accountable For
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot AWS networking components including:
- Transit Gateways
- VPC routing and switching fundamentals in cloud environments
- Cloud-to-on-prem connectivity issues
- AWS Direct Connect / dedicated connections
- AWS-based firewall deployments
- Ensure proper interaction between cloud networking underlays and application workloads.
- Provide expert-level guidance to developers and application teams on cloud networking architecture and stability.
- Support and improve dual parallel environments (legacy new design) while contributing to the phased retirement of legacy networking.
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructures across multi-site environments.
- Execute routine and advanced operational network changes as part of BAU activities.
- Maintain and optimize routing/switching architectures to support high availability and predictable network behavior.
- Act as a technical consultant—evaluate current designs, identify issues, and recommend improvements or rebuilds where needed.
- Support project execution by providing architecture input, performing implementation tasks, and validating readiness for project closure.
- Partner with network engineering, security, and project management teams to manage risk, escalate issues, and remove obstacles.
- Manage and troubleshoot firewall technologies such as:
- Checkpoint (preferred)
- Palo Alto / FMC
- AWS-native firewall services
- Ensure proper segmentation, policy enforcement, and connectivity between hybrid environments.
- Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and cross-team presentations.
- Use network monitoring and management tools to maintain visibility, performance, and reliability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
- 7–10 years of experience implementing and supporting complex network solutions.
- AWS Networking expertise. hands-on experience with transit gateways, VPC routing, Direct Connect, cloud-to-on-prem troubleshooting, and AWS security controls.
- Strong routing/switching fundamentals and multi-site operational awareness.
- Experience designing and implementing new network architectures (not just maintaining existing systems).
- Experience with major firewall platforms (Checkpoint or Palo Alto).
- Cisco ACI knowledge (helpful but not required—can be learned after hire).
- Certifications such as CCNP or CCIE.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, DNAC).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence development, cloud, and infrastructure teams.
- Comfort working in evolving, complex hybrid environments.
