Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes with professionalism and care
- Schedule appointments using dental practice management software, ensuring optimal patient flow
- Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical billing with accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring documentation review and compliance with HIPAA policies
- Assist with clinical documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and Medicare billing procedures
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; direct calls efficiently and courteously
- Manage filing systems, medical records, and ensure confidentiality of patient information in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
Experience
- Prior clinic experience in a dental or medical office setting is highly preferred
- Strong proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including Open Dental and Dentrix
- Demonstrated knowledge of health insurance processes, medical coding (ICD/ICD-10/CPT), and medical billing procedures
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and typing skills including 10-key typing for data entry tasks
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to handle phone communication professionally and manage front desk responsibilities confidently
- Experience with health information management, medical office management, clerical support, and office experience in healthcare environments
