Job Title: PE Teacher and Athletics Coach

Type of Position/FLSA: Full-time, Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
This full-time position will work with a collaborative team of PE coaches to teach K-6 PE classes, support 6-8th grade athletics, and coach a varsity sport.
Physical Education Teaching Responsibilities
- Teach Village PE classes to students ranging from grades K-6.
- Support Middle and Upper School athletics.
- Collaborate to plan and implement physical education curriculum based on school and department mission and vision, including shared learning outcomes and skill sequences.
- Provide continual assessment of student progress, including composing individual student comments two times a year and completing assigned paperwork in provided time frames.
- Create a classroom environment of mutual respect and rapport.
- Use core values to help manage student behavior and teach collaboration, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Attend and support Village physical education events.
- Engage in assigned weekly duties, including but not limited to student supervision on the playground for lunch and recess.
- Attend department, divisional, and faculty meetings and professional development days, including new faculty training and professional development before school begins.
- Engage in Chadwick new faculty orientations and training throughout the year
- Other related duties as assigned
COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, organize, and conduct regular practices that develop individual and team skills in alignment with program and school goals.
- Teach and model the core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, fairness, and compassion on and off the field.
- Develop game strategies and manage in-game decisions to foster competitive success and personal growth.
- Oversee the safety, supervision, and well-being of student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities.
- Communicate with students, families, and the Athletics Department in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with the Athletics Office to schedule practices, games, transportation, and use of facilities.
- Provide constructive feedback to student-athletes to support their athletic and personal growth.
- Maintain equipment and uniforms in good condition and report needs to the Assistant Athletics Director.
- Support younger-level teams and coaches when relevant to ensure alignment across the program.
- Participate in relevant department meetings, training, and school events as requested.
- Read and follow employment and athletics policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES, AND SKILLS
- Experience coaching required.
- Previous experience working with a range of grade levels, including middle or high school students, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of conditioning, athletic skills, and safety best practices.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude with a passion for mentoring students.
- Ability to manage and motivate students while maintaining high expectations and team standards.
- Flexibility to attend games and events outside regular school hours.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
- Required to lift and carry up to a maximum of 25 lbs., in a correct manner consistent with the appropriate training provided by the School.
- Occasionally required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
- May use telephone, computer, copier, and other office equipment in the course of a day.
- Required to sit while operating word processing equipment for approximately 6-8 hours daily, repetitive motion for typing and other keystroke needs.
