GENERAL PURPOSE:
The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist in maintaining a food service program at the school level by performing line monitoring and support cashiering functions in an efficient and effective manner to meet the nutritional needs and program standards of students and staff in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Reports to work on time and on days as designated by the school nutrition coordinator
- Monitors behavior of students during meal periods; supports a positive and welcoming atmosphere for scholars
- Speaks to student scholars in a respectful manner and uses appropriate verbal corrective measures when necessary
- Ensures food service equipment and machines are online and in place ready for meal service on campus
- Ensures students understand the USDA components for a reimbursable meal when going through the line, encourage the #CHOOSE3 marketing program
- When campus personnel are unavailable, performs cashier duties by collecting monies for school meals and accurately charging student accounts through the POS system
- Assists in clean up duties when needed
- Reports problems to school nutrition manager or principal
- Maintains high standards of sanitation and safety
- Maintains good personal hygiene
- Dresses in school appropriate clothing
- Supports overall mission of the child nutrition program
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum one year of cashiering experience, preferred
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate proficiently
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
