Environmental Services Technician (Facilities)

Imagine Your Shift

You arrive with a plan, ready to make every space safe, clean, and welcoming. Floors get your first pass—sweeping and scrubbing where traffic is heaviest. You might strip, seal, and wax a corridor to a polished shine or shampoo high-wear carpets and upholstered furniture. Later, you roll out to the locker rooms and restrooms for a thorough pressure wash. In between, you run a mix of equipment—scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, and wet–dry pick-up machines—to keep the facility in top condition.

Windows inside and out, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, screens, and coverings get attention so everything looks cared for. Before a scheduled event, you set up chairs, tables, stages, platforms, bleachers, and lecterns—then return to break-down and clean-up once it’s done. You keep areas bright by replacing light bulbs and related parts such as ballasts and starters, and you refresh shades, covers, window coverings, screens, and wall hangings as needed.

Throughout the day, you collect and remove waste and debris, maintain supply levels by alerting your supervisor when inventory runs low, and verify shipments against delivery slips upon arrival. When wrapping up, you secure spaces by locking doors, checking windows, and turning off lights.

What You’ll Bring

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; at least 1 year in custodial, janitorial, or related cleaning work preferred. Familiarity with industrial cleaning tools is a plus.
• Skills: Knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment; ability to operate and maintain cleaning machinery; attention to detail and strong safety habits; dependable communication and teamwork; able to prioritize and work independently.
• Special Requirements: Able to lift and move heavy items; available for flexible scheduling (early mornings, evenings, weekends as needed); valid driver’s license required.

Work Environment

• Hands-on, physical role with extended periods of standing and regular lifting.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals with appropriate safety practices.
• Indoor and outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Extras

• Background in large sites such as schools, hospitals, or multi-story office buildings.
• Comfort following written and verbal directions.
• Reliable work ethic and dependability.
