Swim Instructor (Adults & Children)
Location: CGI Holistic Fitness & Spa – Closter, NJ
Department: Aquatics / Fitness
Reports to: Front Desk / Sale Manager or President
Employment Type: Part-Time
Compensation: Per-session pay: starting at $40 up to $50, based on experience and certification level
Position Summary
The Swim Instructor provides professional one-on-one and semi-private swimming instruction for both adults and children. The ideal candidate is patient, safety-conscious, and enthusiastic about helping students build skill, confidence, and comfort in the water. This role plays an important part in CGI’s mission to promote holistic wellness and a positive community environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach private and semi-private swim lessons for adults and children at varying skill levels.
- Assess each participant’s ability and develop tailored lesson plans to support steady progress.
- Demonstrate proper stroke techniques, breathing, and water safety skills.
- Maintain vigilant supervision and ensure a safe and welcoming pool environment.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents or guardians as needed.
- Assist in maintaining pool cleanliness and readiness for instruction.
- Collaborate with the Aquatics team to deliver a high-quality member experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience: 3 Years
- Current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications (American Red Cross or equivalent)
- WSI (Water Safety Instructor) certification or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience teaching private or semi-private lessons for both adults and children
- Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Preferred Attributes
- Ability to teach Aquacise (aqua fitness) sessions — additional paid hours may be offered for instructors who can perform this.
- Familiarity with holistic wellness or aquatic therapy approaches
- Bilingual (English/Korean) a plus
- Reliable, professional, and team-oriented attitude
Pay: From $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 20.0 per week
