Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing plant. This position supports production by performing preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement activities while maintaining compliance with GMP, HACCP, SQF, and food safety standards.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose equipment failures and perform corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
• Repair and replace motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, valves, conveyors, and other machine components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders in CMMS systems.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and all plant safety regulations.
• Assist with installation, startup, and modification of production equipment.
• Support production teams during changeovers and equipment adjustments.
• Maintain compliance with GMP, HACCP, FDA, and food safety requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing, dairy, bakery, beverage, or similar industrial environment.
• Experience with:
• • Electrical systems (120V, 240V, 480V 3-phase)
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics
  • PLC troubleshooting
  • Conveyors and packaging equipment
  • Refrigeration systems (preferred)
  • Welding and fabrication (preferred)
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and flexible shifts as needed.  

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
• Stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in refrigerated environments.
• Work around moving machinery and production equipment.
• Ability to work in freezer and cold-storage areas common in ice cream manufacturing.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of GMP, SQF, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience using CMMS maintenance software.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
