Senior Accountant

Location: S. Seattle (Hybrid)

Salary: $83,200- $97,760 DOE

This organization believes that strong programs start with strong stewardship. The work is mission‑driven, community‑focused, and rooted in equity, leadership development, and long‑term impact. Behind the scenes, a thoughtful and collaborative finance team ensures resources are managed responsibly so that programs can continue to grow and serve communities across the region.

To support that work, the team is hiring a Senior Accountant who cares about accuracy, relationships, and purpose—not just the numbers.

Senior Accountant | Why This Role Matters

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining financial health and transparency in a complex nonprofit environment. This role supports leadership, programs, and partners by ensuring financial information is accurate, dependable, and ready to support smart decisions.

If you’re a Senior Accountant who wants your work to have meaning beyond spreadsheets, this is the kind of role where your impact is felt every day.

Senior Accountant | The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll be deeply involved in month‑end close, financial reporting, and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. You’ll work alongside finance leadership and collaborate with internal teams who rely on clear, trustworthy financial information.

Experience working in nonprofit organizations—and comfort navigating fund accounting—is especially important in this Senior Accountant role.

Senior Accountant | Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, You Will

  • Lead and support month‑end and year‑end close, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare financial statements and internal reports with accuracy and clarity
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy across multiple programs and funding sources
  • Support audits, compliance reporting, and funding‑related requirements
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure expenses and revenues are recorded appropriately

Senior Accountant | Qualifications

The ideal Senior Accountant brings both technical skill and nonprofit awareness.

  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
  • MIP Fund Accounting experience is a significant plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CPA‑track preferred)

Senior Accountant | What You’ll Find Here

This Senior Accountant role offers a collaborative environment where the finance team is viewed as a partner, not just a function. Curiosity, clear communication, and mutual respect are valued—and finance plays a visible role in supporting mission success.

You’ll find steady work, meaningful collaboration, and the opportunity to grow your expertise in a nonprofit setting that values both people and process.

Senior Accountant | Ready to Make an Impact

If you’re a Senior Accountant who wants to apply your skills in a mission‑driven environment—and you bring nonprofit experience or MIP knowledge—you’ll find this role both challenging and rewarding.

Bring your attention to detail, your care for stewardship, and your desire to support work that matters. This Senior Accountant opportunity allows you to do all three.
