Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Structured Cabling Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex telecommunication and network cabling systems. This role requires a strong understanding of fiber splicing, network installation, and low voltage systems, with the ability to work effectively in field service environments. The technician will ensure high-quality installation and service for our clients, supporting their telecommunication infrastructure needs.
Duties
- Install and terminate fiber optic cables, ensuring proper splicing and testing using appropriate tools such as ohmmeters.
- Perform network installations including Ethernet, telephony systems, and Cisco routers to establish reliable communication networks.
- Run and secure cabling in various environments, adhering to safety standards and mechanical knowledge.
- Troubleshoot and repair telecommunication systems, including low voltage wiring and electrical components.
- Use hand tools and specialized equipment to perform cable pulls, terminations, and testing procedures.
- Document installation processes, test results, and system configurations accurately.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining quality standards.
- Conduct field service visits for maintenance, upgrades, or troubleshooting of existing systems.
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician or in telecommunications field service roles.
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, network installation, and telecommunication systems.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, Ethernet cabling, telephony systems, and low voltage wiring.
- Mechanical knowledge related to cable management and electrical systems is preferred.
- Ability to operate hand tools effectively and safely in various environments.
- Knowledge of electrical principles and experience working with ohmmeters or similar testing devices is advantageous.
- Prior experience working with telecommunication infrastructure or structured cabling projects is highly desirable.
