Job Description
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role ensures the accuracy of financial records, assists with the preparation of financial statements, and supports month-end and year-end close processes. The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
- Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with accounting standards
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
Month-End & Year-End Close
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting requirements
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits
- Analyze variances and provide insights to management
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure adherence to company policies and applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP)
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records
- Assist with internal and external audits
Accounts & Transactions
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Monitor transactions to ensure accuracy and timely processing
- Assist with fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1β3 years of accounting experience preferred (entry-level candidates may be considered)
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
