Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare teams
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when required
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality
- Support clients with memory care needs related to Alzheimer’s disease or dementia by implementing specialized techniques and maintaining a safe environment
- Perform light housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a hygienic living space to promote comfort and safety
- Document care activities meticulously, update care plans regularly, and participate in team meetings for ongoing patient support
Skills
- Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group home settings with a focus on senior or disability care
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with CPR and First Aid certification to respond effectively during emergencies
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or dementia-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s or other memory impairments
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and assist residents with mobility challenges
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times
- Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and engaging compassionately with clients and their families
