CapFlow Funding Group is a private commercial lending company specializing in factoring, accounts receivable, and other asset-based lending solutions. CapFlow provides financing solutions to its clients that allow for growth and provide immediate liquidity to pay suppliers, vendors, and employees. In addition to providing needed working capital, CapFlow’s solutions help create operating efficiencies in accounts receivable management, allowing our clients to devote more of their time and resources to running their business and delivering their products and services.

Job Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Underwriter role is to review and analyze submissions to qualify them, perform risk analysis, and determine credit limits and associated pricing for invoice factoring opportunities. The Underwriter is also responsible for monitoring the existing portfolio to assess the performance of clients and account debtors, in coordination with the Account Managers. The position falls within the Credit and Underwriting department and works closely with the Business Development, Operations, and Finance teams. Core responsibilities include:

  • Review submissions for product suitability
  • Analyze credit reports, bank statements and financial statements
  • Review and analyze accounts receivable aging reports
  • Determine credit limits for factoring clients and their associated debtors
  • Price factoring deals appropriate to facility size, credit limits, industry, company financials and other criteria
  • Ensure that boarded clients are maintained within approved risk limits and tolerances
  • Determine internal credit limit recommendations based upon qualitative and quantitative research
  • Perform in-depth financial analysis utilizing historical and pro-forma statements
  • Partake in new client meetings and disseminate detailed highlights to team members
  • Model datasets unique to each deal/industry to mitigate credit and operational risk
  • Assist in the creation of credit approval memorandums upon completion of the underwriting process
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors who provide supplemental risk management services to CapFlow for both prospective and current clients

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related field required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in invoice factoring or a related industry preferred (commercial finance, asset-based lending, purchase order financing, receivables-based financing).
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze core financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows).
  • Strong customer facing and communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Proficient computer skills, including the ability to perform advanced Microsoft Excel functions such as Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Etc.
  • Experience with loan origination systems, especially those used in alternative financial products like Invoice Factoring.
  • Team player capable of providing ad-hoc support to Account Managers.
  • Ability to work in a high-velocity environment under stringent timelines.
  • Sales-driven personality with the ability to quickly assess risk and drive opportunities to closure quickly.
