CFD Research is recruiting a talented Fluid Dynamics Analyst. This individual may support the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) team or unsteady flows and acoustics team and will work as part of the Space Division supporting the Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. As part of the CFD team, responsibilities will include application of advanced computational fluid dynamics tools to perform complex, large-scale simulations. Applications may be related to space launch environments, plume surface interaction, or cryogenic fluid management. Responsibilities in the unsteady flows and acoustics team may include testing of rocket propulsion system components, evaluation of flight data, and analysis of combustion instability.

Basic Qualifications
- Masters degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or similar discipline.
- 2 or more years of experience in application of computational fluid dynamics or flow diagnostics tools (graduate work included)
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to devise creative software design solutions
- Proficiency with C , Fortran, Python, and shell languages
- Ability to work on multiple projects as needed
- Ability to work independently and effectively in team environments
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Good proactive communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to successfully complete assigned tasks with general supervision and oversight
- Ambitious, hardworking, and driven towards continuous growth
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with multiphase flows (Volume of Fluid (VOF), gas-granular/solid, Discrete Element Method (DEM), CFD-DEM, Lagrangian Particle Tracking (LPT), Eulerian-Eulerian methods)
- PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or similar discipline
- Familiarity with cryogenic flow applications, surface tension driven flows, micro gravity flow applications, and phase change
- Experience with meshing tools such as ANSA and Pointwise.
