CFD Research Corporation is seeking a CAD Technician to join our team and play a key role in supporting the design, development, and integration of complex systems for our customers. This position is a new role that will support a growing team of engineers and technicians and will focus on detailed CAD modeling, drawing creation, and documentation in support of technology development programs designed and prototyped at our new Hollywood, Alabama Engineering Test Center, located a short distance from our Headquarters in Huntsville AL. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting engineering tasks related to concept development, detailed design, fabrication, and prototyping of hardware. A key challenge for this role will be facilitating effective communication between the engineering design team and the production/prototyping facility by generating accurate models, drawings, and technical documentation. Previous experience working in an AS9100 or similar regulated manufacturing environment is preferred. The candidate should be comfortable interacting with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders, including government customers. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a practical, common-sense approach to CAD design and a strong understanding of how designs translate to fabrication and prototyping.

Basic Qualifications
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
- Requires a High School Diploma, with an Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification in CAD, Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline preferred, and 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
- Experience creating detailed part and assembly models, engineering drawings, facility layouts, and basic bills of materials
- Understanding of manufacturing methods including machining, sheet metal, and basic fabrication processes
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO-based quality systems
- Experience generating and maintaining Technical Data Packages (TDPs)
- Experience with ASME standards and GD&T
- Experience supporting prototype builds and incorporating redlines or as-built updates
- Exposure to aerospace or defense hardware
- Experience working with or around CNC machining and prototyping equipment
