One of the most esteemed real estate and estate planning law firms is seeking a mid-level Real Estate Finance Associate with a minimum of 4–6 years of experience to join their team in New York.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in representing institutional lenders in complex real estate finance transactions.
Experience with commercial leasing and general commercial real estate transactions (acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures) is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
• Represent banks, debt funds, and other institutional lenders in real estate finance transactions, including:
o Mortgage and mezzanine loans
o Construction financing
o Loan modifications and workouts
• Draft, negotiate, and review loan documents, intercreditor agreements, and related finance documentation
• Review and analysis of due diligence, title/survey review, and participation in closings
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and third parties (title companies, surveyors, lenders, etc.) throughout transaction life cycles

• Manage closings from start to finish with limited supervision
• Work directly with clients and participate in strategy discussions and deal structuring
• Handling commercial leasing matters, including drafting and negotiating leases for office, retail, and industrial spaces
• Handling acquisitions, dispositions, and joint venture transactions, including drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, JV agreements, and ancillary documents
• Maintain awareness of legal developments and market trends affecting real estate finance and leasing
Qualifications:
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Admitted to practice in New York
• a minimum of 4–6 years of relevant experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department
• Strong knowledge of real estate finance laws and practices, as well asmarket standards
• Experience handling commercial leasing and commercial real estate transactions
• Excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Able to manage multiple transactions and deadlines independently
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with syndicated loan structures, intercreditor and co-lender agreements
• Exposure to ground leases, sale-leasebacks, and mixed-use developments
• Familiarity with REITs, opportunity zones, or tax-advantaged structuresis a plus
