A dynamic boutique real estate law firm with a collegial atmosphere, is seeking a candidate to support a woman‐led New York City tax certiorari practice group within a woman‐led real estate law firm based in Midtown Manhattan.
The tax cert practice group represents NYC property owners challenging their property taxes by filing tax appeals (tax certiorari).
This is an entry‐level job with the opportunity for growth as part of succession planning for the current tax cert practice manager. Ideal for a candidate seeking to re‐enter the workforce.

4 Days in the office

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Learn Clipad (client file/management software system) and Genpad (property tax information software) that is specific to their tax appeal practice
Generate tax appeal application PDFs and maintain them in appropriate client folders
Maintain Excel tracking sheet for incoming tax appeal documents and payments received
Generate invoices
Open new client matters and generate engagement letters for new tax appeal clients
Conduct client follow ups (emails, calls) as directed by tax cert practice manager
Scan, copy and proofread tax appeal documents
After‐hours help will be needed and expected Feb. 20‐March 1
Assist with hand delivery of tax appeal documents to NYC Tax Commission (1 Centre Street) leading up to March 1 filing deadline
Help generate forms in preparation for tax appeal hearings
Help maintain and update Clipad database relative to hearings and settlement offers
EDUCATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree;
1‐3 years of experience in a professional services industry or office environment preferred;
Excellent word processing and computer skills, strong organizational and time‐management skills, and exemplary written and verbal skills;
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast‐paced environment with consistent attention to detail;
Strong written and verbal communication skills to handle internal and client communications, as well as a pleasant phone demeanor;
Must be reliable, a fast learner, self‐motivated, attentive to detail and a team player;
Good business judgment;
Must have exceptional “people skills” and present as professional and well‐kept at all times;
Comfortable with math (e.g. calculating percentages with aid of a calculator)
Willingness to work overtime (after 5:30pm) if requested
