The Biochemistry Technician I will be involved in the testing of raw materials, in-process antigens, and final product by immunological, colorimetric, and analytical assays. The technician will ensure products are tested in a manner consistent with Standard Operating Procedures and in compliance with regulations according to 9CFR.

Job Summary And Purpose
The Biochemistry Technician I will be involved in the testing of raw materials, in-process antigens, and final product by immunological, colorimetric, and analytical assays. The technician will ensure products are tested in a manner consistent with Standard Operating Procedures and in compliance with regulations according to 9CFR.
Responsibilities And Key Duties
- Evaluate virus and bacteria by immunochemical assays for potency, identity, purity, and quality
- Assay various raw materials, in-process antigens, and final product for basic chemical compositions
- Perform titrations and identity testing of viruses or bacteria using ELISA
- Perform extraneous virus testing by qPCR
- Ensure adherence to all SOP’s and documentation required to perform testing referenced above

- Basic knowledge of general immunology and chemistry is required
- Basic understanding of Virology/Bacteriology
- Must have good aseptic technique
- Basic understanding of parallel comparison ELISA calculations
- Basic skills with databases and word processing programs
- Education - Bachelors degree in Microbiology, Veterinary Science or equivalent
- Work Experience - preferred 2 years in Quality in veterinary biologics industry
- Other – preferred PCR experience
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Must be able to read, write legible and understand English
- Visual inspection
- Position located at the Biomune Lenexa campus in the quality control laboratory
- Required to work with hazardous materials
