SD Tobacco Compliance Inspector

CES is looking for law enforcement officers to assist Underage Purchasers in performing non-confrontational compliance checks on local tobacco retailers to ensure the sale of tobacco products to Underage Purchasers is restricted. The inspection is used to establish a retailer’s compliance with federal regulations. This work is conducted on a part-time, case-volume basis with flexibility relevant to the individual’s schedule. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Travel with an Underage Purchaser; identify and verify site address provided
• Facilitate and observe undercover buys in coordination with trained Underage Purchasers
• Collect evidence of violations, such as photographs and tobacco products
• Complete compliance check inspection forms, detailing any violations, when applicable
• Review retailers for compliance of advertising & labeling signage

Required qualifications/skills:

• Inspectors must be current law enforcement officers supporting Section 702(a)(1)(A) of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and South Dakota's Codified Laws 34-46-3 (unannounced, random inspections conducted by designated local law enforcement officers).

• Strict adherence to deadlines and privacy
• Must be able to undergo a security clearance background check and become credentialed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Job Type: Part-time (Independent Contractor)
Pay: $24.74-$32.49 per hour (THIS ROLE IS SUBJECT TO FEDERAL SERVICE CONTRACT LABOR STANDARDS).
