Job Title: ESA Plumbing Technician

Status: Full-Time – 40 hours per week
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
The Plumbing Technician installs, services, and maintains plumbing systems for customers enrolled in the Energy Savings Assistance (ESA) Program, Whole Home Pilot projects, and other energy efficiency initiatives. The Technician ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with program guidelines and local codes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Project Preparation
- Review customer work order and project scope prior to arrival.
- Verify necessary tools, parts, and materials are available.
- Confirm customer appointment and access instructions.
- Installation & Service
- Perform plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance per program specifications.
- Install energy-efficient fixtures, water heaters, pipes, and other plumbing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing issues to ensure safe, functional, and efficient systems.
- Program Compliance
- Follow ESA, Whole Home Pilot, and other program requirements.
- Ensure all work meets safety protocols, local code regulations, and program standards.
- Document all work accurately using program forms, digital logs, or reporting systems.
- Customer Interaction
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers.
- Educate customers on system operation, water conservation, and energy-saving practices.
- Address questions or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Complete required inspection reports, work orders, and program forms accurately.
- Submit documentation to the Project Manager or Supervisor promptly.
- Report any project issues, delays, or additional customer needs immediately.
- Equipment & Vehicle Management
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle in clean and safe condition.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transport of plumbing materials and equipment.
- Other Duties as Assigned
- Assist with additional programs or projects as assigned.
- Support team members with program implementation, field troubleshooting, or emergency repairs when needed.
Education
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
Working Conditions
- Field-based work performed at residential properties throughout assigned regions
- Frequent exposure to outdoor weather, dust, heat, and confined spaces
- May require working in attics, crawlspaces, and rooftops
- Use of hand and power tools required
- PPE provided and required for safety compliance
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 75 pounds
- Prolonged standing, kneeling, climbing, and reaching
- Ability to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Visual and manual dexterity are necessary for equipment inspections and repairs
- Must be able to work in tight or elevated spaces as needed
Qualifications:
- Must have three to five years of prior experience as a plumber
- General knowledge of plumbing systems
- Ability to pass drug and background check
- Valid driver’s license
- General knowledge of hand tools and power tools
- Ability to work as a team and or individually
