The Company
Certus Recruitment is partnering with a highly respected, full-service law firm with a long-established reputation for excellence. For more than five decades, the firm has advised businesses, entrepreneurs, families, and institutions across a broad range of practice areas and is recognised for delivering exceptional client service, sophisticated legal counsel, and a collaborative working environment.
Due to continued growth and a significant volume of incoming work, they are now seeking an ambitious Litigation Attorney with a particular interest in Intellectual Property litigation to join their expanding team.
The Role
This is an exceptional opportunity for a mid-level attorney looking to take ownership of their own caseload whilst gaining exposure to a diverse and intellectually stimulating mix of litigation matters.
Working closely with experienced shareholders and senior attorneys, you will manage cases from inception through resolution, handling all aspects of litigation including discovery, depositions, motions, court appearances, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
Alongside general corporate and commercial litigation matters, you will have the opportunity to assume responsibility for a growing portfolio of Intellectual Property litigation work, with additional exposure to environmental and ADA-related matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing litigation matters through all phases of the legal process
- Conducting depositions, drafting motions, handling discovery, and preparing cases for trial
- Appearing before state and federal courts
- Advising clients on complex commercial disputes and litigation strategy
- Working alongside senior shareholders on larger and more complex matters
- Taking ownership of a growing portfolio of IP litigation cases
- Supporting clients across a diverse range of business and commercial disputes
- Delivering exceptional client service and legal advocacy throughout the litigation lifecycle
The Candidate
Applications are invited from attorneys with 4-6 years of post-qualification litigation experience gained within a law firm environment.
You will possess strong technical litigation skills and be comfortable managing your own matters whilst collaborating effectively as part of a wider team.
Suitable candidates are likely to demonstrate:
- Active California Bar membership
- 4-6 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts
- Strong experience handling depositions, motions, discovery, and trial preparation
- Excellent written advocacy and legal drafting skills
- Confident courtroom presence and oral advocacy abilities
- Strong commercial judgement and client management skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience within Intellectual Property litigation would be highly desirable, although attorneys with strong commercial litigation backgrounds and a genuine interest in developing an IP practice are also encouraged to apply.
Additional exposure to environmental or ADA litigation would be advantageous but is not essential.
The Rewards
- Excellent base salary
- Annual discretionary bonus
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) with firm profit sharing contributions
- Flexible working arrangements
- Dedicated paralegal and legal assistant support
- Ongoing mentorship from experienced shareholders
- Genuine partnership and shareholder-track opportunities
- Manageable billable expectations compared with larger firms
- Immediate access to a strong pipeline of high-quality litigation work
This role offers something increasingly difficult to find in today's legal market: genuine autonomy, meaningful client exposure, a broad and interesting caseload, and a clear pathway toward long-term career progression within a stable and highly respected firm.
