What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Facilities Surveyor position at CertiSurv?

The Health Facilities Surveyor conducts inspections/surveys/investigations of health care facilities for compliance with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to areas affecting total patient care, such as nursing, physician, restorative, pharmacy, social, dental, and related services. Full-time, part-time, and temporary position are available.

Specific Tasks include:

  • Traveling to and conducting in-depth surveys of healthcare facilities, individually or as part of a team, to determine compliance with state licensing and federal certification requirements. Investigations include, in part, conducting interviews with resident/patients, facility administration, facility staff, medical professionals; conducting observations for adequacy of care; and reviewing relevant records to assist with determining compliance. Independently, or as part of a team, decides healthcare facilities’ compliance with state and federal laws and regulations based on survey findings. Prepares written reports following the onsite surveys.
  • Attending training sessions offered by Federal and State officials and CertiSurv.
  • Other tasks as required, including, but not limited to, serving as Team Coordinator on surveys, preparing survey packets, maintaining technological devices, and submiting expense reports.
  • Developing and presenting both written and verbal testimony/statements at informal dispute resolutions and court proceedings, when required.

Qualifications:

  • The ability to reason logically, evaluate information and formulate conclusions, analyze information, and effectively present both orally and in writing.
  • The ability to take initiative, and work both independently, and as a team member. The ability to independently represent CertiSurv and State regulatory agencies in a professional manner while in contact with healthcare facilities, patients/residents, and the public.

  • The ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with co-workers and the public, interacting with individuals of varying personality types and personal backgrounds.

Work Environment:

Extensive travel, which includes air travel to other states, to healthcare facilities to conduct investigations/surveys/inspections. Over-night travel is required. Efficiently perform tasks under demanding/competing deadlines. Variable work hours, as investigations might need to occur off-hours. Extensive use of technology use is required, including email, internet, laptop, survey software, and communication/webinar software.

Hiring Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of surveyor/investigator experience, working with a Federal or State agency.
  • Long Term Care surveyors must have passed the Surveyor’s Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT).
  • Must have survey experience in the relevant healthcare facilities for the assignments.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
