Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Controller / Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations and provide financial oversight across the organization. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys balancing strategic financial leadership with day-to-day operational excellence.
The Controller will play a critical role in maintaining the company's financial health, ensuring compliance, improving processes, and supporting leadership with accurate and timely financial information.
What You'll Do
- Lead and oversee all daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Cash Management
- Manage month-end and year-end close calendar & processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and oversee account reconciliations
- Develop, monitor, and maintain company budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to leadership regarding business performance and opportunities for improvement
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and banking partners
- Oversee inventory accounting and costing within the ERP system
- Support operational teams by providing financial insights and reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiencies
- Manage and mentor accounting team members as the department grows
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and business information
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or management responsibilities
- Previous experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar role preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with ERP systems and accounting software
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with leaders across departments
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CMA designation preferred but not required
- Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, cannabis, consumer packaged goods, or highly regulated industries preferred
- Experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting strongly preferred
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must successfully pass a BCI background check to obtain state licensing
- Ability to reliably commute to Dayton, OH 45403
