Field Service Technician

Position Summary

Certified Waste Solutions is a commercial waste equipment solutions company seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to service balers, compactors, and other waste industrial equipment. The primary job functions of this position will be to diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance and ensure units are fully operational and exceed customer expectations. 

Work Schedule: 4-day, 10 hour shifts Monday-Tuesday, Thursday- Friday. 1 day off during week: Wednesday

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Uses company truck to travel to customer sites to inspect and/ or perform repairs as needed  Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.


• Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, and structural systems as needed.


• Communicates with customers and management on the status of their repairs as often as needed to keep them informed of progress.


• Utilizes a multimeter to diagnose electrical issues and identify failure points.


• Uses a tablet to update work orders and document repairs


• Estimates time and material costs on compactor and baler repairs and requisitions new parts.


• Performs all work in a timely manner


• Performs after-hours service calls for emergency breakdowns as needed 


• Completes required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.


• Assists other technicians in the completion of project work.


• Keeps truck, equipment, and all tools clean and always organized


• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have electrical background and troubleshooting experience


• Hydraulics repair and knowledge a plus


• Welding (MIG/Stick) experience preferred


• Ability to read and comprehend schematics


• Experience working industrial machines


• Clean driving record 


• Ability to pass a background check 


• Works well in a team environment


• Ability to follow instructions 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

•  Requires standing, bending, and lifting materials up to 40 pounds regularly


• Good driving record and ability to haul and back trailers 


• Must be willing to work overtime when requested by manager and based on business needs


• Should be detail oriented & have strong customer service skills


• Should be able to work independently with little supervision


• Ability to lift-up to 50 lbs.


• Work is performed in an outdoor facility with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and dust


• May require prolonged periods of standing
