What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax and Accounting Associate position at Certified Public Accounting Firm?
A Professional Services Firm offering clients a high level of service handling medium to complex client situations. We offer comprehensive tax compliance and planning, as well as business advisory services.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic tax and accounting associate to handle accounting functions, financial statement presentation and business taxation.
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of accounting and tax experience in a CPA Firm. We are looking for a candidate that takes a keen interest in client work, is proactive and has a strong technical knowledge base in both accounting and tax functions.
Job Specifications
- Perform all facets of the accounting function for clients from initiation to financial statement preparation and reporting.
- Must have a good grasp of accounting principles, standards and reporting, including familiarity with all bases of accounting. Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) knowledge is preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll items and platforms for input and review for submission for payroll processing, general understanding of fringe benefits and impact on shareholders and employees.
- Good working knowledge of federal and state income tax returns for C and S corporations and partnerships, ability to identify issues and research with assistance.
- Opportunities for growth and taking on more complexity is inherent in the job.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should hold a CPA designation or similar, or enrolled in a program to attain it.
- Proficiency with accounting software like QuickBooks desktop and online, and other systems, payroll platforms, tax preparation software, like CCH, and ability to learn new platforms.
- Proficiency in web-based applications and remote access to company server/cloud solution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including collaboration with other staff and a team player.
- The candidate should be detailed oriented, with a focus on quality.
