POSITION DESCRIPTION: In this key role, you will provide leadership to our Cosmetics, OTCs, and Dietary Supplements (COS) testing laboratory. As the Laboratory Director, you will be responsible for the strategic and overall supervision of laboratory operations, long range planning and the implementation of strategies for developing and expanding the business. You must ensure that our services are following the company's quality requirements; in addition to complying with customer regulatory requirements for quality, safety, and reliability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develop and implement strategic business initiatives with the objective of consistently producing
accurate test results, maintaining clients, increasing business, and aligning with business unit
and corporate initiatives.
• Ensure that client needs are met with on-time delivery and proactive communication to develop winwin partnerships.
• Deliver on customer demands and corporate initiatives while consistently driving EBITDA growth
through cost-effective laboratory management, effective scheduling and planning, and strong ROI
management.
• Responsible for the selection and establishment of appropriate test methodology. Interact with
clients/projects requiring multiple resources and effectively facilitate inter-company and
interdepartmental initiatives and interactions to best meet the needs of the client/project.
• Ensure adherence to QA components and objectives and ensure that targets are achieved.
• Define and write operational procedures in adherence with regulatory standards.
• Participate in large project proposals with attention to profitability and client satisfaction.
• Proactively participate in trade and professional associations in collaboration with the sales and
marketing team to promote the company with the goal of increasing sales and promoting our business locally, regionally, and nationwide.
• Responsible for overall laboratory operations with attention to consistent implementation of policies, procedures, and business practices for all employees, including our ISO Accreditation parameters.
• Attend internal and external audits.
• Ensure consistently smooth laboratory operations through timely and effective resolution of
disruptions, i.e.: equipment maintenance, purchases, and laboratory supplies.
• Ensure the attainment of company objectives through the selection, development, motivation, and evaluation of lab staff. Directly manage the laboratory operation relating to hiring, termination, and performance management issues. Supervise direct reports, laboratory managers, supervisors, and administrative managers with a strong presence in various daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor of Science or higher degree in a science discipline; Chemistry is highly preferred.
• Must have 5 to 7 years of experience managing a staff of 70 to 100 people, including managing upper management, technical personnel, chemists.
• Must have 7 to 10 years of experience with cosmetic, OTC, or dietary supplement quality systems and an ability to quickly grasp and close gaps around categories of inexperience.
• Experience in a TIC space is highly preferred.
• QC or RA experience within the cosmetic, OTC, or dietary supplement industries is a plus.
Salary : $150,000 - $210,000
