The A Technician is a highly skilled automotive professional responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and oversight of vehicle maintenance across a wide range of manufacturers, including diesel platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues in gas and diesel vehicles.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high repair quality and timeliness.
- Assist with workflow coordination and prioritization in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Communicate clearly with customers, vendors, and teammates regarding repairs, parts, and timelines.
- Lead by example in maintaining a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work area.
- Help procure appropriate parts efficiently and accurately, understanding vendor and sourcing logistics.
- Support and assist other technicians with challenging or collaborative projects.
- Stay current with vehicle technologies, diagnostic tools, and manufacturer updates.
- Maintain complete and organized service records, diagnostics, and repair documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Deep mechanical and diagnostic expertise across diverse vehicle systems and platforms.
- Advanced use of diagnostic scanners, programming tools, and repair software.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on "fix it right the first time" philosophy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both customers and team members.
- Ability to remain flexible and adapt to rapidly shifting shop priorities or urgent repairs.
- Dependable, punctual, and self-driven with a team-focused attitude.
- Familiarity with the parts procurement process and vendor communication.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and technical growth.
Education & ExperienceRequired
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years of progressive experience in automotive diagnostics and repair
- Familiarity with both gas and diesel platforms and multiple vehicle manufacturers
- Ability to lead projects and support less experienced technicians
- Must supply own tools appropriate for advanced diagnostics and repair
Preferred
- Associate Technical certification or degree in automotive or diesel technology
- Experience with diesel engines, fuel systems, emission controls, and diagnostic tools
