Summary:

This position includes the inspection of fire and life safety systems. The person in this position will test, inspect and maintain specific fire and life safety systems for Certified Fire customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

(May perform additional duties of similar complexity within Certified Fire as required or assigned.)

  • Inspection of commercial and residential Fire and life safety systems
  • Prepares for fire system inspections by reviewing inspection work orders, gathering equipment, supplies and tools; coordinating schedules with customers
  • Verifies fire systems are functioning by testing equipment, connections and signals; identifies problems & ensures timely reporting back to office personnel according to SOP
  • Recommends actions to bring systems into compliance
  • Completes accurate and compliant inspection reports according to NFPA and CFS standards for each inspection work order.
  • Maintains records of inspections and recommended actions for fire life & safety systems
  • Responsible for contacting, scheduling and completing all work orders assigned for period
  • Maintains customer rapport by resolving concerns; answering questions
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment by following safe practices; following all job site safety requirements and keeping security information confidential.
  • Communicates results, outcomes, and needs that arise from inspections performed to other members of the team to ensure timely and accurate billing for services, and to assist in the process of prompt and accurate quoting for any deficiencies identified.
  • Stays current with code requirements and industry changes
  • Maintains eligibility to keep licensing current
  • Provide any PPE that is not issued by the company
  • Accurately record all hours spent on jobs worked. This may include using a time clock to clock in and out for shifts, and/or tracking time spent on each job site.

Required Qualifications:

Experience: Varies depending on specific inspections position

Licensing: A valid Driver’s license, all required per AHJ, NFPA, and applicable State licensing

Skills:

Excellent two-way communication skills

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specs

Must be able to effectively operate a smart phone device

Able to comfortably navigate Microsoft Office applications

Self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision

Other:

Successful completion of a background check, MVR and BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation)

Physical Requirements & Exposure to Elemental Factors:

Continually (75% or more)

  • Working in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Adhering to job site safety requirements
  • EE responsible for (insert PPE not provided by CFS here)
  • Standing and walking
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders multiple times per day
  • Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions-elevated surfaces, scaffolding, crawl spaces and other small spaces, ducts, above ceilings, etc.
  • Lifting 50-70 lbs.
  • Day shift and overnight shift required, shift will be dependent upon active jobs
  • Safe operation of motor vehicles
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites each day
  • Use of clear and audible speaking voice
  • Ability to hear normal speech volume level

Frequently (50% or more)

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling 1-25 lbs.
  • Reaching overhead
  • Lifting/carrying/pushing and/or pulling 25-50 lbs.
  • Grasping/squeezing

Compensation:

Commission/Hourly (hourly rate $35-$50, depending on experience)
