About Us
Cerritos Aquatic Club (CAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, USA Swimming club that has rapidly grown into a rising force in Southern California Swimming. Serving 120 athletes ages 5–18, CAC has seen record competitive success in recent seasons, including the most SCS qualifiers in club history. Our goal is to build on this momentum and continue shaping CAC into a leading developmental and high-performance swim program.
Position Overview
Join a rising program as Head Coach of Cerritos Aquatic Club. This part-time role (~15–16 hours/week) includes hands-on, on-deck coaching—ideal for a motivated leader eager to make an impact, guiding swimmers’ technical development, inspiring performance, and helping drive CAC’s continued growth into an elite USA Swimming club. With strong administrative and parental support, you can focus on what you do best: coaching and competition.
Based at our indoor home pool in Cerritos, the Head Coach will have access to training tools including a GoPro for underwater video analysis, iPad, resistance bands, cords, and Arena gear through our sponsorship.
The ideal candidate excels in teaching stroke technique, builds trust with families through effective instruction and feedback, and provides the comprehensive technical coaching that athletes need. This individual is consistent, reliable, and models a positive, growth-minded approach on deck and at meets.
The Head Coach will also mentor assistant coaches to ensure a unified approach across all groups. CAC seeks a coach who shares our vision for growth and is eager to help shape the club’s next stage of growth and success

Responsibilities
- Lead age group and senior practices with a focus on technical excellence, skill development, and competitive performance.
- Design and implement seasonal training plans aligned with USA Swimming standards and CAC’s long-term vision.
- Mentor and collaborate with assistant coaches to ensure consistent, progressive instruction and a unified coaching philosophy across all groups.
- Foster a positive, disciplined, and team-centered culture that builds athlete confidence and engagement.
- Serve as a technical resource for swimmers and families, providing comprehensive instruction that meets each athlete’s needs within the program.
- Model consistency and reliability through dependable attendance at all assigned practices and meet, including championship meets and travel meets.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and the Board to support alignment and transparency
- Attend:
o Monthly CAC Board meetings
o Metro LSC monthly meetings (as a part of the Metro Committee)
o Other SCS/USA Swimming meetings required of Head Coaches
Requirements
- 5 years coaching experience (Head Coach experience preferred).
- Current USA Swimming Coach Member in good standing (Safety Training, CPR/First Aid, Background Check, Athlete Protection).
- ASCA Level 2 or higher certification preferred.
- Demonstrated success in teaching stroke technique and skill fundamentals across a range of ages and abilities.
- Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor swimmers of all ages and abilities, as well as assistant coaches.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Consistent, dependable presence at practices and meets.
- Commitment to fostering a positive, growth-oriented environment aligned with CAC’s mission and values.
