What We Are Looking For
The Jarraff Operator plays a critical role in vegetation management operations, ensuring safe and efficient trimming and removal of trees near utility lines. This field-based role supports storm restoration and routine maintenance efforts. Success in the first 12 months includes mastering equipment operation, adhering to safety protocols, and contributing to team productivity and safety.
What You Will Do
- Follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
- Assist in preparing truck and materials needed for each day at the General Foreperson’s direction.
- Perform professional tree maintenance activities as directed.
- Clear and trim trees and brush away from utility lines; remove branches and tree material.
- Clean up and dispose of all debris.
- Maintain and keep track of all tools and equipment used in daily operations.
- Practice climbing and tree maintenance skills to improve professional capabilities.
- Assist other crew members in all aspects of daily activities.
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
- Perform duties for storm work as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries.
- Prior experience operating Jarraff equipment.
- Working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree operations.
- Ability to identify tree species and understand electrical hazards.
- Physical strength, agility, and ability to work at heights under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain first aid certification and CPR. High school diploma or GED preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous aerial lift experience.
- Ability to administer emergency rescue techniques.
- Willingness to travel for storm restoration work.
- Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

The Jarraff Operator must be comfortable working at heights, using PPE, and traveling as needed.
