Production Supervisor – 1st Shift – John Deere Horicon Works This is a vital, long-term 2 year contract opportunity paying up to $45/hr, including 2 Weeks of PTO. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising 1st shift assembly operations, managing first-line production employees to ensure that the safety, quality, and productivity goals of the Horicon Works facility are achieved.
Position Details & Compensation
- Pay Rate: Up to $45/hr (W2).
- Location: 100% Onsite at Horicon Works (Horicon, WI).
- Duration: 2 Years.
- Shift: 1st Shift (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM).
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, with overtime likely (2 hours before or after shift). Weekend work on Saturdays (and occasionally Sundays) is expected.
- Benefits: 2 Weeks PTO, Health, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k, and Referral Bonuses.
- Safety Gear: Metatarsal safety shoes are required on Day 1.
- Visa Sponsorship: Not available now or in the future.
Core Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Foster an equitable environment through consistent communication and feedback; manage onboarding, training, and development for a team of union employees.
- Operations Management: Supervise assembly operations to sustain safety and productivity goals, making workforce adjustments to meet customer promise dates.
- Continuous Improvement: Direct departmental CI plans and activities while monitoring control plans to ensure products meet all quality requirements.
- Policy Administration: Administer employee policies, procedures, and work rules while acting to achieve individual, line, and budget performance targets.
- Safety & Housekeeping: Implement and sustain safety programs and maintain high standards of housekeeping on the production floor.
- Onsite Mobility: Drive a John Deere Gator (after safety training) to navigate the factory and manage production zones.
Required Skills & Experience
- Supervisory Experience: Proven experience supervising production employees, specifically within a Union environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing processes, Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time (JIT), and Kanban systems.
- Software Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel for data management) and a working knowledge of SAP.
- Problem Solving: Strong decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Cross-Functional Background: Experience in areas such as manufacturing, engineering, warehousing, or supply management.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, or Supply Management is preferred.
- Associate’s degree or High School diploma with adequate years of relevant supervisory experience will be considered.
What Makes You Stand Out
- 2 years of team leadership and mentoring experience in a factory environment.
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Pay Plans (CIPP).
- Bi-lingual skills (English and Spanish).
- Proven project management experience delivering results through resource coordination.
