Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Human Resources Specialist to join our team at Ceramic Tile Center. This role is essential in managing various HR functions, from onboarding to safety compliance, ensuring our workplace remains productive and compliant with California labor regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HR procedures, especially within California employment laws, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Onboarding and Orientation:
- Manage the onboarding process for new employees: onboarding paperwork, including preparation of company phones, emails, keys, and signed company policies and the employee handbook.
-Manage full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding new employees
Prepare offer letters and coordinate pre-employment processes
-Oversee onboarding logistics including paperwork, company phones, email setup, keys, and policy acknowledgments
-Conduct exit interviews and manage termination processes with professionalism and compliance
Corrective Counseling and Documentation:
- Prepare corrective counsel notices for management
- Document employee write-ups, with signatures, and proper filing
- Conduct internal investigations with proper documentation as needed
- Prepare performance evaluations
Safety and Compliance:
- Handle all safety and compliance documentation, ensuring adherence to California’s anti-harassment laws and other regulations.
- Develop and implement regular safety meetings tailored to showroom, slab safety, and warehouse safety.
- Track and document all safety training and compliance activities.
- Ensure compliance with California time recording keeping for all five locations
Employee Benefits and Enrollment:
-Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, COBRA, workers’ compensation, and retirement plans
-Manage benefits enrollment and open enrollment processes using platforms such as Paylocity, Ease, and PCS
-Ensure all filing and documentation requirements are met according to company size and California regulations
Documentation Management:
- Digitize employee documents and maintain organized records to ensure easy access, confidentiality, and compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive employee information.
- Provide guidance to management on employee relations issues, including corrective counseling, and performance evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in human resources, preferably in a retail or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of California employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in conducting interviews and managing employee relations.
