Maintenance Planner
Position Overview

A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Maintenance Planner to support the safe, efficient, and reliable execution of maintenance activities across a production facility.
This role is ideal for a multi-craft maintenance professional with strong knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems who understands how maintenance work is performed in the field and can translate that knowledge into effective job plans and schedules.
The Maintenance Planner will work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Safety to prioritize work, coordinate resources, and improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Review and prioritize maintenance work orders and manage the maintenance backlog.
- Develop detailed job plans, including labor requirements, materials, tools, procedures, and safety considerations.
- Plan maintenance activities involving both mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
- Develop daily maintenance schedules and coordinate work with maintenance craftsmen and operations.
- Support plant shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance projects.
- Work with maintenance technicians to capture job feedback and improve future planning.
- Maintain work orders, Bills of Material, maintenance records, and other CMMS information.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and obtain quotes when required.
- Participate in regular maintenance scheduling and planning meetings.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, increase efficiency, and control maintenance costs.
- Promote and incorporate safety requirements into all maintenance planning activities.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, coordination, or reliability within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong multi-craft maintenance knowledge, particularly across mechanical and electrical disciplines.
- Hands-on experience as a multi-craft technician, electrician, millwright, maintenance mechanic, or similar trade is highly valued.
- Ability to understand technical maintenance requirements and determine the appropriate manpower, materials, tools, and skill sets needed to complete a job.
- Experience with a CMMS or computerized maintenance management system.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with maintenance craftsmen, production personnel, engineering, safety, contractors, and management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard maintenance/planning software.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on maintenance experience will be considered.
