Director of Supply Chain & Material Management (Onsite – Grand Junction, CO)
We’re looking for a senior supply chain leader who thrives in a hands-on, highly regulated manufacturing environment and is ready to own end-to-end materials strategy, procurement, planning, and logistics.
This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll directly influence production performance, supplier reliability, compliance, and cost efficiency in a defense-focused manufacturing operation supporting U.S. government programs.
What you’ll own
Supply Chain Leadership & Strategy
- Lead full-cycle supply chain operations from procurement through delivery
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies focused on cost, risk reduction, and long-term supplier performance
- Drive supplier consolidation, negotiation, and strategic partnerships
- Manage supplier performance (SRM) and Open Order Report visibility
Government Contracting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and EAR regulations
- Manage Government Furnished Property (GFP), including tracking, reporting, and lifecycle control via PIEE
- Support contract compliance across the supply chain lifecycle in a regulated defense manufacturing environment
Planning, Scheduling & Materials Flow
- Own finite scheduling and capacity planning in a production environment
- Align demand, forecast, and production execution with operations and engineering
- Ensure material availability across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
- Support engineering changes, product launches, and transitions
Warehouse, Logistics & Inventory
- Oversee receiving, storage, staging, shipping, and material handling
- Manage carrier performance, freight cost, and on-time delivery metrics
- Improve warehouse flow, accuracy, and operational efficiency
- Drive Lean 5S and continuous improvement across logistics operations
Systems & Data Integrity
- Own ERP-based planning and inventory systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Ensure accuracy of BOMs, routings, inventory transactions, and planning parameters
- Build dashboards and reporting tools to improve supply chain visibility and decision-making
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop buyers, planners, and inventory/materials teams
- Conduct Gemba walks and drive frontline engagement
- Set expectations, coach performance, and build succession pipelines
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
What you bring
Experience
- 5 years in supply chain, procurement, or materials leadership roles
- Experience in government contracting or highly regulated manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of FAR/DFARS and ITAR/EAR requirements
- Background leading supply chain teams in manufacturing, operations, or industrial settings
Technical Skills
- ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Great Plains, or similar)
- Advanced Excel and MS Office Suite
- Production planning, MRP, and finite scheduling systems
- Supplier performance management (SRM)
- BOMs, routings, inventory control, and materials planning
- Warehouse and logistics management systems
- KPI reporting, dashboards, and data-driven decision-making tools
Leadership Skills
- Strong negotiation and supplier management capability
- Analytical and operational problem-solving mindset
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives across operations, engineering, and quality
- Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing floor environments
Work environment
- Onsite role in Grand Junction, CO
- Monday–Thursday, 10-hour days (with occasional exceptions)
- Occasional after-hours responsiveness required as part of senior leadership
- Work spans office, production floor, and controlled manufacturing environments
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (export control requirement – ITAR/EAR)
- Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance (if required)
- Must pass background check and drug/alcohol screening
- Experience in regulated or defense manufacturing strongly preferred
