Fire Sprinkler Inspector Trainee

Summary
Responsible for assisting with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems under the supervision of experienced inspectors; this entry-level position provides hands-on training in fire protection systems while ensuring compliance with applicable fire codes and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
High school diploma and technical training in fire protection, mechanical systems, or construction is a plus; previous experience in construction, mechanical work, or fire protection systems preferred; willingness to obtain industry certifications such as those offered by National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
Computer Skills
Microsoft Office applications, Word, and Excel; ability to use mobile inspection software and digital reporting systems.
Physical Demands
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods; ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40–50 pounds; ability to work in mechanical rooms, ceilings, rooftops, and other confined or elevated spaces; ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments

Summary

- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs related to fire protection systems.
- Learn inspection procedures and documentation requirements in accordance with standards from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
- Observe and assist with inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems and related fire protection equipment.
- Observe and support testing of fire sprinkler components including valves, alarms, gauges, and water flow devices.
- Learn how to document inspection results, deficiencies, and corrective action recommendations.
- Learn how to maintain inspection tools, equipment, and vehicles used for service calls.
- Learn and follow company safety policies and applicable workplace safety regulations from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
- Assist with customer communication regarding inspection schedules and service needs.
