Chesapeake Fire Protection is looking for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to create accurate, code-compliant, and constructible fire sprinkler and suppression system designs. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, engineers, architects, and field teams to bring projects from concept to installation.
🎯 What You’ll Do
- Create fire sprinkler system layouts, hydraulic calculations, and material specifications.
- Design systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects.
- Ensure designs meet NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications.
- Review construction drawings and coordinate with architects, engineers, and Project Managers.
- Prepare shop drawings, design submittals, and permit packages.
- Work with field teams to resolve constructability issues and design changes.
- Maintain accurate design and revision documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and quality control checks.
- Stay current with fire protection codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma; technical training or degree preferred.
- 2–5 years of fire sprinkler design experience.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, or multi-family projects.
- Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, hydraulics, and NFPA standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or other fire protection design software.
- NICET Level II or III in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.

- Primarily office-based with occasional job site visits.
- Prolonged periods of computer and desk work.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs or ladders, bend, stoop, and navigate uneven surfaces.
- Ability to lift 25–30 lbs.
- Job site visits may include exposure to varying weather, dust, or noise.
- Strong visual acuity required to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
