What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabrication Shop Expeditor position at Century Contractors, LLC?
The Expeditor supports the Fabrication Shop Manager in planning and executing daily activities related to receiving and dispatching accurate orders. This role requires strong communication with Management and site personnel to provide realistic timeframes and alternative options for materials or equipment based on each unique situation.
Key Responsibilities
Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces. Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect orders upon pickup or arrival to confirm correct materials are expedited according to the materials list.
- Resolve any discrepancies before leaving for delivery and seek management input when necessary.
- Adjust and communicate delivery schedules for supplies, materials, and equipment based on changing priorities.
- Secure loads to ensure safe, damage-free transportation.
- Inform Project Managers and the Purchasing Manager of any needs or challenges at job sites.
- Plan and coordinate efficient routes for material transfers between locations, incorporating input as needed.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, vendors, and project site personnel.
- Communicate challenges promptly to all relevant parties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 1-3 years relevant work experience
- Critical thinking skills/problem solving skills to Plan and perform work where only general policies or procedures are available.
- Experienced communicator with effective verbal and written communication that allows for relationship and rapport building.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to recognize timelines and deadlines to prioritize work accordingly.
- Sit-down Forklift experience.
