Job Description Centurion is seeking a Systems Engineer II with experience in Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), and systems integration to support the engineering, modernization, lifecycle sustainment, and technical integration of OT/IT solutions within a federal environment. The Systems Engineer II will work closely with Program Managers, technical teams, and lower-level organizational echelons to engineer technical solutions that support mission and program objectives. The role will contribute to requirements development, system architecture, integration, troubleshooting, modernization planning, technical documentation, and cybersecurity activities across the OT/IT solution lifecycle.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on familiarity with industrial control environments such as SCADA, PLC, DCS, and RTU systems, along with a solid foundation in systems engineering, industrial networking, and secure OT/IT integration. Key Responsibilities Engineer and integrate technical solutions supporting OT/ICS environments, program execution, lifecycle sustainment, and modernization initiatives. Collaborate with Program Managers, engineering teams, and lower-level organizational stakeholders to define technical approaches and solutions.
Develop and maintain system architectures, technical requirements, interface documentation, and engineering assessments. Translate operational and mission requirements into actionable technical and system requirements. Support the integration of OT tools and technologies with enterprise IT and business systems.
Apply systems engineering practices throughout the requirements, design, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment lifecycle. Support OT/ICS upgrade and modernization projects, including technology assessments, gap analyses, and technical recommendations. Analyze existing systems and develop recommendations for improving performance, interoperability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
Troubleshoot and support industrial networks and OT/IT interfaces. Provide technical guidance and engineering recommendations to program teams and leadership. Support OT/ICS cybersecurity activities, including risk management and security documentation.
Contribute to NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and development of cybersecurity support artifacts. Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, configuration baselines, and engineering guidance. Prepare technical briefings and program status updates for Client leadership.
Support system testing, validation, verification, and implementation activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field. ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE Intermediate experience in: Operational Technology (OT) Engineering Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Systems Engineering OT/IT Integration Technical Documentation and Requirements Development Foundational experience with stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
Experience developing technical requirements, engineering documentation, and system-level solutions. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with technical teams, program leadership, and operational stakeholders.
Equivalent experience: An equivalent combination of military, DoD, industrial control systems, operational technology, software development, systems engineering, or systems integration experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Preferred Qualifications Intermediate experience with Cybersecurity for OT/ICS environments. 2-5 years of Department of War (DoW) or federal experience.
Intermediate knowledge of NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF). Experience with industrial control technologies, including: SCADA Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) Experience with systems integration and solution architecture. Experience with industrial network design and troubleshooting.
Experience applying cybersecurity best practices to secure OT/IT integration. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and collaboration tools. Background in software development, systems engineering, or systems integration.
Federal, DoD, industrial, manufacturing, energy, utilities, or other mission-critical OT/ICS experience. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a mid-level systems engineer who understands both the engineering and operational sides of OT environments. This individual should be comfortable translating stakeholder needs into technical requirements, working with ICS technologies, integrating OT and IT systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and communicating engineering recommendations to both technical teams and leadership.
Experience with SCADA, PLC, DCS, RTU, industrial networking, OT cybersecurity, and federal/DoD environments is highly desirable.
