Position Overview

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will play a key leadership role in the daily management, maintenance, and improvement of the golf course and practice facilities at 1876 Country Club. Working directly under the Golf Course Superintendent, this individual will oversee maintenance staff, assist in agronomic planning, and ensure the course is maintained to the highest standards of playability, safety, and presentation.

This role is ideal for a motivated professional looking to advance in turfgrass management while being part of a premier new golf club.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Operations & Staff Oversight

  • Direct and supervise grounds crew in all daily maintenance practices, including mowing, irrigation, bunker care, and course setup.

  • Train staff in proper use of equipment, safety procedures, and best maintenance practices.

  • Serve as acting superintendent in the superintendent’s absence.

• Course Agronomy & Maintenance

  • Assist in implementing agronomic programs including fertilization, pesticide applications, and cultural practices.

  • Monitor turfgrass health, soil conditions, and irrigation needs across all playing surfaces.

  • Help execute aerification, overseeding, sod work, and other cultural practices.

• Irrigation & Water Management

  • Assist in scheduling and monitoring the irrigation system, including troubleshooting and repair.

  • Ensure efficient water usage while maintaining optimal playing conditions.

• Equipment & Facility Care

  • Coordinate with the equipment technician to ensure proper use and upkeep of all maintenance equipment.

  • Help oversee maintenance facility organization, safety, and supply inventories.

• Project Support

  • Provide hands-on support for capital and improvement projects (e.g., lake bank stabilization, bridge builds, bunker renovations, irrigation installs).

  • Assist with recordkeeping, documentation, and communication of project progress.

• Communication & Leadership

  • Work closely with the Superintendent and General Manager to ensure alignment on course presentation goals.

  • Maintain professional communication with fellow staff, club leadership, and members when appropriate.

Qualifications

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
