Founded in 1972 by migrant farmworkers, Centro Cultural del Condado de Washington (Centro) is a community institution for gathering, culture and community building. Today Centro serves as a hub for: arts and cultural events; economic empowerment for families; for community advocacy; supportive housing and stabilization; comprehensive food security services; public health initiatives; senior health and wellness; and year-round K-12 STEAM pathways. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Centro de Prosperidad is the workforce and economic development arm of Centro Cultural. The

Career Development Coordinator works alongside clients to develop a plan, while providing individualized coaching and guidance, in support of economic prosperity. This position is tasked with building positive relationships and trust with clients to better support their job search activities.

The Career Development Coordinator provides client-centered support in areas such as resume building,interview skill development, collaborative career planning, and individualized case management support to overcome barriers to employment. The Career Coach will maintain ongoing communication with clients and document appropriately. This position requires excellent follow through, strong attention to detail, the ability to work autonomously, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of the population served.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Work with clients to assess skills, strengths, and barriers to employment and develop individual career plans to meet their training and employment goals.

● Ensure the individual career plan identifies and addresses client strengths, next steps, and potential barriers.

● Provide case management support to assess progress in meeting goals, celebrate successes, identify barriers, help problem solve, and connect with community resources to overcome barriers.

● Provide one-to-one assistance in employment related activities such as developing resumes, identifying training programs and funding for those programs, and completing applications for education and employment.

● Track client activities and outcomes in required database systems.
● Develop and maintain relationships with workforce development agencies, employers, and community partners to nourish a referral network of clients into the program.
● Ability to refer clients to partners for additional services and resources. Provide updates to partners as needed for individual client activities.
● Connect employers with potential candidates, and provide assistance until successfully employed.
● Provide retention and advancement support once clients successfully enter employment.
● Adhere to required documentation into Centro Cultural’s internal case management system, iTrac, WOMIS, and/or ServicePoint.
● Maintain organized client records and up to date documentation.

● A passionate commitment to the goals and mission of Centro Cultural
● Familiarity with of Washington County Latinx community and ability to convey program goals and activities to community members with a culturally specific lens
● Ability to utilize community resources available to best support families, and experience navigating institutions, resources, government agencies, social services, etc.
● Experience working in supportive services with a working knowledge of services & resources for the communities served
● 1 to 3 years of experience working with low-income communities and knowledge of barriers to employment

● Understanding of process of navigating resources for clients

● Experience working within a team environment

● Experience using databases, Google Suite, and other digital tools.

● Strong relationship building and communication skills

● Bachelors in social work or psychology or similar field

● Bilingual English-Spanish required

Requirements

● Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines
● Possess current driver’s license and auto insurance coverage
● Ability to travel out of town to attend workshops or trainings

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is approximately 50% in an office environment and 50% in community locations or other Centro locations. Working conditions are standard for an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will:

● Engage in regular communication in person as well as through electronic means
● Routinely use computer laptops, tablets, desk phones, photocopiers and monitors, including digital screens
● Occasionally move up to 30 pounds when setting up for tabling events
