Located in Danville, KY, the historic, picturesque 150-acre campus is 30 miles from Lexington, in the famed Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky.
Reports to the Paint Supervisor of Facilities Management.
This is full-time, non-exempt position. Starting pay range is $17.00 - $18.50 per hour.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform all painting tasks, interior and exterior painting at ground level and above ground level, which include washing of walls, scraping, patching, sanding, undercoat and finish coat application of latex based, oil based and solvent based paints;
- Use proper techniques while using equipment and performing touchups;
- Washing and cleaning of materials and maintaining paint equipment;
- Work to ensure quality control and professional workmanship
- Assist Lead Painter with painting jobs;
- Enforce and adhere to standard safety precautions. Attend all mandatory training;

- Facilities Management provides critical services to the college to ensure the safety of the students, faculty, and staff. Facilities employees are critical personnel, which requires us to be present during inclement weather and all other emergencies.
Marginal Job Functions:
- Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Provide assistance when necessary to all areas of Facilities Management.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to follow instructions, verbal and written. Ability to perform manual work for extended hours.
- General knowledge of paints- colors, finishes, stains both interior and exterior, and applying all types of paint to all types of surfaces.
- General knowledge of Painting- brush, roller, or spray application techniques for all types of materials familiar to painting trade.
- General knowledge of drywall surfaces- taping, mudding, sanding, and finishing.
- General knowledge of surfaces- recognition of and proper procedures to decorate and protect all types of surfaces interior and exterior.
- General knowledge of rigging- built up or suspended scaffolding (ladders, stringers, stages, hooks, ropes, rolling etc.)
- General knowledge of staining woods- (new or old), finishing or refinishing furniture or woodwork.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects normally associated with painting weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to work from scaffolding, ladders, and other devices.
- Ability to work in confined areas for extended periods of time.
- Mobility on campus necessary.
