Job Description

The Grant Coordinator will work across all college departments in order to identify needs for funding and research available sources of funding, including public, private and corporate sources. The Grant Coordinator develops grant applications and monitors grant funding implementation. The Grant Coordinator works closely with the Budgets, Grants, & Contracts office to monitor all grant-related spending and budget reporting. Works closely with all grant-funded projects to assure compliance with grant requirements, timely and thorough grant reporting requirements are met, and reports both internally and externally on grant-funded projects.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify needs for funding and develop grant proposals to address needs
  • Monitor successful grants for compliance, reporting, and budgeting
  • Perform internal reviews of institutional needs, collect and gather program data, and assess the feasibility of obtaining external funding for project and program proposals
  • Investigate local, state, federal, private, foundation, and corporate sources of funds.
  • Develop and maintain an internal grant application process
  • Develop and maintain a grant management system for funded grants that includes report due dates, budget adherence, and any other grant requirements
  • Work closely with the Budgets, Grants & Contracts office to maintain effective budget oversight
  • Develop and maintain information on funding sources, grant writing, and community and state data relevant to the foundation's programs and services
  • Coordinate, develop, and process grant applications from conceptual to submission stage while working closely with staff throughout all phases
  • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities
  • Provide responsive customer service and compliance support to campus departments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; for example, English, communications, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, etc.
    Demonstrated successful experience in grant writing
  • Demonstrated experience in fiscal management and/or financial analysis
  • Ability to understand and address funding requirements of the organization
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
  • Ability to manage and track multiple projects, outcomes and deadlines
  • Use technology to assist with grants development and management
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with integrity
  • Read, comprehend, interpret, and apply governmental regulations and proposal guidelines
  • Use office software tools proficiently; demonstrated experience using spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex policies and procedures and effectively communicate them to others
  • Proven leadership capabilities and excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver presentations to large groups
  • Experience working in large, highly structured organizational settings
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of reliability, accuracy, and productivity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to maintain positive working relationships and address complex or sensitive administrative matters
  • Sound judgment and the ability to exercise discretion and independent decision-making
  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse groups, stakeholders, and teams; collaborative, inclusive, and service-oriented style and the ability to foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or other advanced degree
  • Experience working in higher education, especially community college
  • Bilingual, particularly Spanish/English
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience using grant management software
  • Experience in a work environment using Lean or a similar structured process improvement effort

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of the Grant Coordinator position require employees to regularly talk, hear, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, assembling components, or performing repetitive motions is essential.

Employees must be able to sit occasionally, stand and/or walk for over 35% of the workday, bend and twist at the waist frequently, reach from knee to shoulder level frequently and above shoulder level occasionally, and lift or move up to 20 pounds.


Conditions of Employment

This is a twelve (12) month per year, full-time administrative exempt position. The salary is $68,000-70,000 (DOQ/DOE) annually depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The state of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for state employees. The position may participate in the TIAA/CREF retirement system.

This position is fully in-person and based on campus. Remote work is not available for this role.

COMPENSATION:

Annual Salary: $68,000-70,000 (DOQ/DOE)
