Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during procedures such as restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and efficiency.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and other medical imaging to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, ensuring HIPAA compliance, and maintaining accurate medical records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Provide chairside assistance with aseptic techniques, vital signs measurement, and maintaining infection control standards.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, X-ray taking, and infection control protocols.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic is a plus.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Ability to perform pediatric dentistry procedures and work effectively with children and their families.
- Knowledge of 3D scanners, medical imaging equipment, and endodontic or prosthodontic procedures is highly desirable.
- Certification in infection control practices and aseptic technique; CPR certification is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members including dental receptionists, hygienists, and specialists like orthodontists or periodontists.
