We are seeking a professional, motivated, and customer-focused Licensed Health & Life Insurance Agent to join our in-office team. This role is responsible for helping individuals and families evaluate insurance needs, recommend appropriate health and life coverage, complete applications accurately, and provide ongoing policy service. The ideal candidate is organized, sales-oriented, compliant, and committed to delivering excellent client support.
Key Responsibilities
· Meet with walk-in, scheduled, and referred clients in the office to assess health and life insurance needs.
· Explain policy options, benefits, exclusions, premiums, and coverage limitations in a clear and accurate manner.
· Recommend suitable individual and family health, life, supplemental, and related insurance products based on client needs and budget.
· Prepare quotes, complete applications, collect required documentation, and submit business accurately and on time.
· Maintain organized client files, policy records, and follow-up activity in agency systems.
· Provide policy service including billing questions, beneficiary updates, policy reviews, renewals, and general customer support.
· Follow all carrier guidelines and applicable state and federal compliance requirements, including privacy and confidentiality standards.
· Conduct outbound follow-up calls to leads, existing clients, and renewal opportunities to support retention and new business growth.
· Collaborate with agency staff to meet production goals and deliver a positive customer experience.
· Stay current on product changes, carrier updates, and licensing or continuing education requirements.
Qualifications
· Active Health and Life insurance license required.
· Previous insurance sales, customer service, or agency experience preferred.
· Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills.
· Ability to explain insurance concepts in a simple, client-friendly way.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
· Comfortable working in a structured office environment and handling a high volume of client interactions.
· Proficient with computers, email, and agency management or CRM systems.
· Professional demeanor and commitment to ethical sales practices.
Preferred Skills
· Experience with Medicare, individual health plans, life insurance, supplemental products, or cross-selling strategies.
· Ability to handle inbound calls, client appointments, and walk-in traffic efficiently.
· Goal-driven mindset with a strong focus on client retention and new business development.
· Knowledge of compliance requirements and continuing education expectations for licensed agents in Virginia.
Work Schedule and Compensation
This is a full-time, in-office position. Compensation may include hourly pay, salary, commission, or a combination of base pay and performance incentives, depending on experience and agency structure. Standard business hours and occasional seasonal schedule adjustments may apply.
