What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Tech II position at CENTRAL VIRGINIA HEALTH SERVICES INC?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Intermediate Level work highly supervised. Technician’s ability to work independently is determined by the Pharmacy Operations Manager.
1. Employee holds a National or Virginia Pharmacy Technician license.
2. Technician is not necessarily working in a traditional technician role. This will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor and the pharmacy director.
3. Maintains a positive attitude toward work and CVHS.
4. Helps with minor administrative duties as directed by immediate supervisor.
5. Assists with phone management.
6. Employee has all of the qualifications of a Pharmacy Tech I.
7. Employee does basic functions inside of the pharmacy filling software and the electronic medical record.
8. Answering patient questions about the technical issues involving the filling process.
9. Filing prescriptions.
10. Maintaining the robot.
11. Assisting in the filling, labeling and compounding of prescriptions.
12. Checking in the wholesale order.
13. Maintaining inventory.
14. Metering mail.
15. Filling in at the production workstation as needed.
16. Technician has a positive attitude toward increased production and is a team player looking for ways to increase the goals and mission of the pharmacy.
Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to the following:
Updates and registers patients in Pharmacy database.
Assists Pharmacist in filling/refilling of prescriptions.
Assists Pharmacist in processing prescription insurance claims, including reconciliation.
Files and maintains prescriptions in a neat and orderly fashion.
Answers incoming phone calls from patients for prescription refill requests and related matters.
Assists patients in enrollment into Pharmacy assistance programs.
Receives and processes drug orders coming into Pharmacy.
Assists Pharmacist in prepackaging drug items.
Assists Pharmacist in maintaining an adequate dispensing stock of prescriptions drugs in the Pharmacy.
Maintains adequate levels of dispensing supplies (bottles, jars, vials, etc.).
Requisitions and maintains adequate levels of Pharmacy office supplies.
Assists in maintaining Pharmacy department and dispensing equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Assists Pharmacist in maintaining proper security over Pharmacy inventory.
Assists other departments in obtaining necessary patient, prescription or billing data that would enhance the Center's
flow of patient care and billing.
All CVHS Pharmacy staff will abide by the standards of accreditation in Mail Order Pharmacy and Specialty Pharmacy.
Attends work as scheduled.
Other duties as assigned by the pharmacy director, pharmacy operations manager, clinical pharmacy manager, or staff
Pharmacist.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
1 Year Pharmacy Experience (required)
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Pharmacy Technician License (required)
On-the-job training and experience under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
