PURPOSE
As a Distribution Center Manager at Central Valley Ag, you will be responsible for the oversight and management of inventory of products coming in and going out of the facility. This position supervises the daily work schedules of warehouse facility, assist with ordering, assist in purchases, and assist in logistics of Crop Protection Products and seed from distributors to CVA locations. This position is responsible for maintenance of all distribution equipment used in the warehouse operations and maintaining safety as the number one priority including a clean facility to enhance the image of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise, develop, motivate, and assign specific responsibilities to Distribution Center employees to maximize operational efficiency.
- Monitor employee attendance, productivity, and other performance markers and coaching/mentoring employees, as required.
- Monitor and enforce all company policies and rules.
- Ensure all deliveries are loaded, packaged properly and shipped on time.
- Assist in coordinating inventories at all locations to ensure adequate inventory turns and eliminate obsolete and non-moving inventory.
- Assist with seed transactions for the company.
- Maintains various records and reports as required by vendors, government entities, (city, county, state & federal) and others to comply with all environmental laws and regulations.
- Ensure the proper handling and recording of all hazardous materials stored and shipped.
- Work with other CVA managers to share help when needed at other locations.
- Knowledge or ability to learn automation software.
- Monitor and keep Supervisor, Director of Crop Protection, Director of Specialty Products, and Seed Coordinators apprised of inventory levels.
- Ability to multi-task several assignments simultaneously and establish job priorities
- Assist in ensuring that paperwork is completed accurately and timely and keeping warehouse organized.
- Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management.
- Maintain and promote safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
- Required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor and senior staff.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will have direct reports.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in conjunction with division heads. Focus on highly engaged workforce with great communication skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- B.S. from a 4-year accredited college or university in Ag Economics, Ag Business, Ag Management and/or related field and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- This position requires excellent computer operation skills.
- Willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.
- Must have a good working knowledge of Crop Protection Products and Active Ingredients of the chemistries we offer.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively before groups of customers, clients or employees of the organization.
- Strong ability to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages area, circumference, volume, weight measurement and distance. And able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Willingness to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards and take appropriate precautions and choose appropriate PPE as dictated by need, regulations and labeling.
- Valid driver's license with clear record.
- CDL with Hazmat endorsement or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
