Central UMC Knoxville is seeking a passionate and faith-filled Director of Children and Youth ministries to help direct a vibrant ministry of discipleship formation for children, birth through 12th grade.

This is a part time position that is 15 hours a week with a compensation of $15,000 annually.

Qualifications:

• High School graduate, 2 or more years college/technical training; college degree preferred.
• Calling and experience working with children in a Christian environment
• Creative, enthusiastic, energetic and flexible
• Ability to recruit, schedule, train, supervise volunteers
• Knowledge of or a willingness to learn about United Methodist faith and tradition

Hours/Schedule: 15 hours per week average; salaried

2.5 hours on Sundays 9:30-Noon

12.5 hours TBD (program planning, communication, meetings)

Responsibilities:

• Partners with Children and Youth Ministry leaders to develop, implement, and promote discipleship formation for children birth through 12th grade, through participation in worship, education, music and recreation; includes Sunday School, Confirmation, Promotion Sunday, Christmas program, Easter events, Vacation Bible School, and other service and fellowship opportunities for all ages.
• Coordinate children’s worship experience through Sunday Worship; coordinate volunteers for and participate in rotation for children’s time during worship; greet families with children; provide weekly clipboard activities for children during worship
• Maintain safe sanctuary policies and ensure necessary training for volunteers.
• Meet periodically with the Pastor, Children and Youth Ministry Co-Leaders, Ministry Teams and Leadership Council to plan events and coordinate ministry.
